Dr. Lauren Harper

Veterinarian

Dr. Lauren Harper is an emergency veterinarian at Hershey Animal Emergency Center. She was born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs and is excited to be back in Pennsylvania after spending the past three years in Texas.

Dr. Harper attended the University of Delaware for undergrad, where she studied Biological Sciences and Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Animal Biosciences. She then attended St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Cayman Islands, completing her fourth-year clinical rotations at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

After veterinary school, Dr. Harper completed a rotating internship at Crown Veterinary Specialists in northern New Jersey. She then spent some time in general practice at a VCA hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. While she enjoyed getting to know her patients and their families, she quickly realized that emergency medicine was where she felt most at home. She went on to move to Houston, Texas, where she has spent the last three years practicing emergency and urgent care medicine.

Dr. Harper loves the variety and challenge that come with emergency medicine and especially enjoys helping pets and their families through unexpected and stressful situations. She is excited to join the team at Hershey Animal Emergency Center and looks forward to getting to know the local veterinary community.

Outside of work, Dr. Harper enjoys reading, working out, and spending time with her pets. She has three dogs—Benny, Blue, and Barbara—and a veiled chameleon named Brutus. After several years in Texas, she is particularly excited to see four real seasons again, be closer to family and old friends, and rediscover everything she loves about the Northeast.
