Hershey Animal Emergency Center FAQ
We know that visiting an emergency veterinary hospital with your pet can feel overwhelming. To help ease your mind, we’ve answered some of the most common questions below. If you don’t see your question here, please don’t hesitate to call us, as we’re always happy to help.
No appointment is needed. We see patients on a walk-in basis only. However, we do recommend calling before you arrive. This allows us to prepare for your pet’s needs, give you an estimated wait time, and help move the check-in process along faster.
Yes, if possible. While we always welcome walk-ins, a quick call before you head over helps us get ready for your pet’s arrival and ensures we’re prepared to provide immediate care.
That depends on your pet’s condition, diagnostic results, and the treatment plan the veterinarian discusses with you. If hospitalization is needed, we’ll review what kind of care your pet will receive, provide an estimate, and keep you updated every step of the way.
Yes. We are fully staffed 24/7 with a qualified veterinarian and nursing team. Hospitalized pets are assigned to a dedicated inpatient nurse who provides medications, treatments, and close monitoring. To give you peace of mind, your pet’s patient care advocate will even send you text updates and photos during their stay.
We accept cash, all major credit cards, CareCredit, Scratch Pay, and All Pet Card. While we do not offer in-hospital payment plans, we’re happy to work with all major pet insurance providers. Because every company’s process is a little different, we recommend contacting your insurance provider first. Our team will gladly help with any documentation they need from us.
These third-party providers offer flexible financing to help manage the cost of your pet’s care. Applications can be completed quickly and easily online at any time. For your convenience, we’ve included direct links on our Payment Policy page.
If your pet would benefit from specialized care, our team will discuss the best options and help facilitate a referral to the appropriate specialist.
Saying goodbye is never easy, and our team is here to support you with compassion and respect. We offer a private comfort room where you can spend as much time as you’d like with your pet. The veterinarian will guide you gently through the process, answer any questions, and review aftercare options. You are encouraged to be present with your companion during this peaceful and humane procedure, but we’ll always respect your wishes if you prefer otherwise.
