Guiding You Through Every Step

What to Expect During Your Pet’s Emergency Surgery

We know that surgery is stressful, not just for pets, but for their people too. That’s why we prioritize efficiency, communication, and comfort every step of the way.

Before surgery, we'll perform in-house lab work and pre-surgical assessments so that this critical information is reviewed prior to surgery, and necessary adjustments to the surgical or anesthesia plan can be taken. Our advanced surgery and anesthesia care begins even before moving your pet to the surgery suite: with pre-warming, pre-oxygenation, and pre-surgery pain relief. Once in the surgical suite, your pet will be surrounded by a dedicated team focused on their well-being. A trained veterinary technician continuously monitors anesthesia along with key vitals while maintaining closed-loop communication with the surgeon to quickly respond to unexpected changes.

Post-Surgery Care and What Comes Next

After Your Pet’s Emergency Surgery

As soon as your pet is out of surgery and stable, you’ll receive a call from one of our doctors or technicians to update you. We’ll walk you through the procedure, any changes in your pet’s condition, and what the next steps look like.

All post-operative patients receive close monitoring from our in-house nursing team, who provide comfort, manage pain, and track recovery progress. If your pet needs ongoing hospitalization during their recovery, our ICU is fully outfitted to provide oxygen therapy, blood transfusions, and more. When it’s time for discharge, you’ll be given detailed home care instructions and the opportunity to ask any questions. We're just a phone call away, day or night, if you need continued guidance.
